Important Waiver Information for Minors at Discovery Cove Orlando
Visiting with Minors: What You Need to Know
At Discovery Cove Orlando, the safety and preparedness of our younger guests are of utmost importance. Minors (those under 18 years of age) must have a waiver completed by their parents or legal guardians to participate in certain activities. This includes minors visiting without adult supervision, who will also need to complete the “Authorization to Treat” form. This essential form is available for download below and should be filled out prior to your visit.
For children under 18 participating in the dolphin swim experience and/or SeaVenture® without their parents or legal guardians, a signed waiver along with a copy of the parent’s or guardian’s driver’s license must be presented at check-in.
Please note, guests must be at least 15 years old to visit Discovery Cove® without an accompanying adult.
Activity-Specific Information:
- SeaVenture Experience: We advise guests with certain physical or mental impairments or conditions to review the medical restrictions on our SeaVenture Information page to ensure safe participation.
- Trainer for a Day Program: Participants are scheduled to meet their Dolphin Trainer at 8 a.m. in the guest reception lobby. Please ensure you have checked in before this time.
Any minors lacking the required signed waiver(s) and a copy of their guardian’s driver’s license will not be permitted to participate in the specified activities.

Understanding Discovery Cove Orlando’s Waiver Policy:
For minors participating in the Dolphin Interaction Program or Sea Venture, the waiver must be signed by their “natural guardian” as defined by Florida law. Discovery Cove Orlando cannot accept waiver releases signed by anyone other than the child’s natural guardian. This policy ensures the safety and legality of the minor’s participation in our activities.
About “Natural Guardian” as Defined by Florida Law:
The term “natural guardian” refers specifically to the minor’s biological or legally adopted parents. In cases of a parent’s death, divorce, or other legal circumstances, the natural guardianship may shift according to the specifics outlined by Florida Statute §744.201. For detailed definitions and circumstances, please refer to the statute directly.
If a minor will be visiting Discovery Cove Orlando without their natural guardian, the guardian must print and sign the appropriate release form from our website, attach a copy of their driver’s license, and send these documents with the minor or submit them prior to the minor’s participation in any activity.
